Description of Supporting Factors For The Availability Of Fecal Waste Disposal Infrastructure In Realizing Open Defecation free In Neighbourhood 06 Mekarsari Cibiru Bandung City

Abstract

Open Defecation Free is one of the Community-Based Total Sanitation (CBTS) programs that aims to improve community behavior in order to create the highest degree of public health. Mekarsari Village is one of the areas located in Cibiru Sub district, Bandung City. The purpose of this study was to determine the supporting factors for the availability of fecal waste disposal infrastructure in realizing Open Defecation Free in Neighbourhood 06 Mekarsari Cibiru Bandung City. This type of research is descriptive research, the research was conducted by interview and observation. The population in this study were 140 houses with a sample of 58 obtained using simple random sampling technique. Univariate analysis resulted in public knowledge about Open Defecation Free, Open Defecation Free implementation behavior, availability of healthy latrines, and land availability in supporting the Open Defecation Free program. Based on the results of the interview, the knowledge aspect of Open Defecation Free obtained 70% sufficient category results, the results of Open Defecation Free implementation behavior obtained 100% sufficient results, as many as 100% of respondents did not meet the requirements in the availability of healthy latrines, and 5% of respondents had land that could be used for septic tank disposal. Local community leaders are expected to assist the community in the construction of communal septic tanks for shared fecal waste disposal.
