Riview of Solid Medical Waste Handling at Pakutandang Health Center Bandung District, in 2024

Abstract

Medical waste is waste generated from the activities of health service facilities. Pakutandang Community Health Center is one of the 62 Community Health Centers in Bandung Regency. Health Center activities are one of the means of producing medical waste. If it is not handled properly, it will cause health problems. This research aims to determine the generation of solid medical waste, determine the handling of solid medical waste at the stages of sorting, containerization, storage, transportation, infrastructure, knowledge and attitudes of health workers and cleaning staff. This research uses descriptive. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling. The human samples were 14 health workers and 2 cleaning workers, while the environmental samples were 5 rooms that produced solid medical waste. The generation of solid medical waste at Pakutandang Community Health Center, Bandung Regency is 1.6 kg/day and 0,00028 L/day. Handling of solid medical waste at the sorting stage 100% meets the requirements, the container stage 100% does not meet the requirements, the transportation stage 100% does not meet the requirements, the storage stage 100% does not meet the requirements. Infrastructure facilities do not meet the requirements 100%.The knowledge aspect of health workers is 100% in the "Good" category, while for cleaning workers it is 50% in the "Good" category and 50% in the "Poor" category. The attitude aspect of health workers and cleaning staff gave 100% positive responses. Monitoring solid medical waste for health workers and cleaning staff.
