Abstract

Background: Non-communicable diseases, including diabetes mellitus (DM), pose a global threat. The IDF reports a global DM prevalence of 1.9%, with 95% being type 2 DM. In children and adolescents, the prevalence of type 2 DM increased to 7.2% in 2015. In West Java, DM cases reached 644,704 in 2022. Unhealthy lifestyles are the primary risk factors. Health promotion, such as podcasts, is effective for educating about healthy lifestyles. Surveys show 67.97% of respondents are familiar with podcasts. Research at SMAN 1 Cimahi found no DM education via podcasts, suggesting this medium for DM prevention. Objective: To assess the feasibility of using audio podcasts to prevent Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at SMAN 1 Cimahi using the 4D approach. Method: The research employed a 4D approach (Define, Design, Development, Dissemination) with material testing, media testing, small-scale testing, and statistical testing using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (one group pretest-posttest). The sample consisted of 80 participants. Results: Analysis showed students needed educational podcasts about type 2 diabetes mellitus. The educational podcast was designed using voice recording apps, VN, Capcut, and Canva. Canva was used to create appropriate YouTube backgrounds. The resulting podcast, lasting 7 minutes and 7 seconds, is accessible on all smartphones and available on YouTube. Statistical tests confirmed the media's feasibility and its positive impact on adolescent knowledge for preventing type 2 diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: The educational podcast for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is highly feasible and accessible through the link
