The number of cases of non-communicable diseases in Indonesia continues to increase every year. This incident can be caused by the lack of awareness of individuals in the community to carry out routine health checks so that early detection of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) based on health services becomes less effective. Prevention of NCDs risk factors and community-based prevention is one solution that can be done to reduce the risk of mortality rate due to NCDs. The purpose of this activity is to conduct health checks in the form of screening blood glucose, uric acid, and hemoglobin levels for the community in the LKSA environment of Sholawatul Fallah Orphanage, Bandar Lampung. The implementation time is Friday, August 26, 2022, at LKSA Sholawatul Fallah Orphanage, Bandar Lampung. This activity was attended by 43 residents who checked blood glucose, uric acid, and hemoglobin levels. The results obtained that as many as 43% had high blood glucose levels, 28% had high uric acid levels, and 10% with hemoglobin results below normal. The results of the examination are recommended for further examination to the Puskesmas for the Community with high blood glucose and uric acid levels.
Mimi SugiartiHartanty HartantyWimba Widagdho DinutanayoAgus PurnomoNurminha NurminhaYusrizal ChaniagoA.
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a global health issue, with Indonesia ranking second worldwide in TB cases. The high incidence of TB is partly due to its ease of transmission via droplets in densely populated areas. One preventive measure is improving environmental hygiene through disinfectants. However, chemical-based disinfectants often leave residues, prompting the need for natural alternatives, such as Moringa oleifera leaves, which exhibit antibacterial potential. This community service activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of Posyandu Mawar 01 and 02 cadres in RT 02 RW 02, Pasirkaliki Village, Cimahi Utara Sub-district, on processing moringa leaves into disinfectant sprays to prevent TB transmission. The program included preparation, education, mentoring, pre-tests, and post-tests. Supporting materials such as presentations, leaflets, videos, and moringa-based disinfectant spray products were distributed to cadres for further education. The results showed a 42% increase in cadres' knowledge, with an average post-test score of 85 compared to a pre-test score of 60. This activity effectively improved cadres' understanding of TB prevention using natural materials. It is hoped that similar activities will be conducted regularly to raise community awareness and capacity in TB control.

Yogi Khoirul AbrorFusvita MerdekawatiAditya Juliastuti

One of the common and increasingly frequent problems faced by developing countries is poor waste management. This waste problem is also one of the crucial problems facing Indonesia. This is also compounded by the fact that public awareness is still lacking regarding waste management and the dangers of environmental waste. This research was carried out at SD Negeri 101826 Tuntungan II on Saturday, 18-25 May 2024. This research is qualitative research using observation, interviews, question and answer and games methods involving various parties as respondents. The aim of this research is so that students at SD Negeri 101826 Tuntungan II can understand and apply knowledge regarding the differences between organic waste and non-organic waste in order to make it easier to dispose of and process waste in accordance with the correct waste disposal criteria. The benefit of this research is that it is a form of caring for the school environment and protecting the earth from waste that is difficult to decompose, so that it can minimize littering. By carrying out several stages and explaining about waste, we can immediately give an example to children that it is important for us to protect schools from various diseases that can result if waste is thrown away carelessly.

Deviani Arianti PutriAnanda Riska Rizqi Puan Maulida SyifaRamadhani Putri AuliaRevail RefianaSalshabilla April Lea Audina SalsabilaMutiara Yusnidar SariHasibuan Rapotan

Oral diseases, including dental caries and diseases of the tooth-supporting tissues, often stem from neglect of oral hygiene. A primary contributing factor is the lack of knowledge about proper tooth-brushing techniques. To address this issue, interactive video media was utilized to make the delivery of tooth-brushing knowledge more engaging. School-age children were the most affected group by oral and dental diseases. This community service initiative aimed to enhance the understanding of oral health among students and their parents through a partnership program. A total of 26 students and 19 parents participated in the program. Pre-counseling evaluations revealed that students had an average knowledge score of 25%, while parents scored 37%. Post-counseling, the average knowledge scores increased to 57% for students and 61% for parents. The assessment of tooth-brushing skills showed an average score of 57.7%, categorized as moderate. These findings demonstrate that both students and parents significantly improved their knowledge of oral health maintenance, with students achieving moderate proficiency in tooth-brushing techniques.
Denden Ridwan ChaerudinSiti FatimahYenni Hendriani Praptiwi

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) occurs due to prolonged insufficient intake of protein and energy, which often affects women both before and during pregnancy. One of the efforts to prevent CED in pregnant women is consuming adequate energy and protein according to their needs. Additionally, nutritional intake is influenced by the pregnant woman's knowledge about nutritional adequacy during pregnancy. The design of a pregnancy nutrition expert system model aims to assist pregnant women in determining healthy meal plans and monitoring their dietary patterns to achieve an ideal body weight. The objective of this community service program is to enhance the knowledge of Posyandu cadres about nutrition for pregnant women, enabling them to disseminate this information during Posyandu sessions. Additionally, it aims to equip the cadres with skills to use the AKZI Bumil application before introducing it to pregnant women. The methods for this community service program include providing education on maternal nutrition to cadres and introducing the AKZI Bumil application. Results: After the nutrition education, there was an increase in knowledge among 9 participants, with a statistically significant difference (p=0.046). Additionally, 66.7% of cadres found the application user-friendly and beneficial for managing maternal health data. Most cadres considered the content appropriate for their needs, although some reported errors and suggested adding variables for nutritional monitoring during pregnancy.
Yanuarti PetrikaDesiWiwik Sundari

Background: The activity of sorting waste is simple but requires awareness and commitment from the individual concerned. Scientific understanding in sorting is also needed to become a basis that can strengthen individual commitment and responsibility in handling waste. Public facilities whose sanitary conditions do not meet the requirements will be synonymous with slum and dirty conditions. Sanitation facilities and facilities that meet the requirements will certainly support the existence of healthy schools. Healthy schools are also one of the themes of community service that has been carried out by many community service teams in various educational institutions. Objective: This community service activity aims to find out efforts to improve soil environmental health, waste management, and find out the response to IT-based waste management in the school. Methods: Direct field surveys at school locations, conducting outreach, and demonstrations of IT-based tools are the methods used in our team's community service. Results: Soil quality at both school locations for pH and humidity parameters in the categories meets the requirements, indicating that there are no activities that have the potential to pollute the soil at these locations. Waste management efforts are already at the sorting and processing/composting stage which continues to be processed by partner 1. There is a positive response from both partners to the IT-based waste sorting tool. There was an increase in students' knowledge at both schools regarding waste sorting before and after the counseling.
Cervical cancer is widely found in women in developing countries, with a prevalence of cervical cancer of almost 70%, because the level of awareness about cervical cancer and early detection is still low. The cause of 99% of cervical cancer cases is Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection, and WHO data between 2019 and 2021 state that the coverage of the first dose of HPV vaccination fell by 25% to 15%. In Indonesia, HPV vaccine coverage in 2019 was very low, with only 1.1% of all adults receiving the vaccine. The WHO recommends that girls aged 9 to 14 years are the main target for 1 or 2 doses of HPV vaccine because at this time it is very possible to get HPV immunization. Preventive efforts are behaviors related to individual health known as health behaviors, by providing education using cervical cancer prevention podcasts to students.
Food security ensures everyone has sufficient, safe, nutritious, affordable access to healthy food. To achieve this, four critical dimensions must be met: accessibility, availability, safety and nutritional quality of food. Food security will be disrupted if one of these dimensions is not achieved. Hydroponics, which allows cultivating plants without soil, is an alternative for increasing food security, especially in areas with limited land. In Bandung, with a tropical climate and sufficient water availability, hydroponics can improve agricultural production efficiency and reduce pesticide use. Bandung Ministry of Health Polytechnic, Department of Environmental Health, carries out community service in the Sukarame area to overcome the limited knowledge and skills of the community regarding the use of home gardens, the importance of healthy pesticide-free vegetables, and the application of hydroponics. This program uses a scientific approach with lecture, discussion and field practice methods. The activity began with a survey, followed by briefing students participating in the service regarding hydroponics. Students are then involved in training and field practice. Measurement of residents' knowledge showed a significant increase from pre-test to post-test. Even though 20% of respondents still did not understand the material, these results show that practice-based training effectively increases knowledge.
