Introduction : One of the factors causing suboptimal dental growth in children is tooth decay. This study aims to investigate the effect of the Hand Puppet Interactive Modern Dental Health Education Book on the knowledge improvement of third-grade students at SDN Harapan 212 in Bandung city. Method : This research employs a pre-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design. The sample consists of 61 children selected using total sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted statistically using the Wilcoxon test. Results : The study revealed that before the introduction of the media, the average score of the students was 7.00 with a standard deviation of 0.22. However, after the media introduction, the average score increased to 15.00 with a standard deviation of 0.24. Statistical tests indicated a significant difference (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05) between the results before and after the intervention among the students of SDN Harapan 212 in Bandung city. Conclusion : The Hand Puppet Interactive Modern Dental Health Education Book significantly impacts the improvement of dental and oral health knowledge among elementary school children.
Rizal IbrahimYenni Hendriani PraptiwiIrwan SupriyantoTri Widyastuti

https://jurnal.polkesban.ac.id/index.php/tgm/article/view/2150

Pregnancy brings many changes to pregnant women. Pregnant women, if not handled properly, can have a negative impact on the health of the mother and baby, especially on the health of the oral cavity. Unkempt teeth contain harmful bacteria. These bacteria are toxins that easily enter the genital tract through the blood vessels and a bacterial infection occurs which causes inflammation in the uterine tract and can attack the unborn fetus which has the risk that fetal growth and development can be inhibited and disrupted. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of pregnant women about oral health and their behavior during pregnancy. This type of research is quantitative through a Cross Sectional research design, namely conducting research at the same time to connect the independent variables and the dependent variables studied on the sample and the specified population. The sample amounted to 41 respondents of pregnant women in the first, second and third trimester. This research was conducted at the Rancaekek Health Center DTP Bandung Regency in January - March 2024. This study used instruments in the form of questionnaires of Knowledge Level and Behavior. Data analysis used was Chi-Square (chi square <0.05). The results of this study found that there was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the oral health behavior of pregnant women during pregnancy. This can be caused by pregnant women who have knowledge related to oral health, and they apply it in their daily lives (already maintaining oral health during pregnancy according to their knowledge).
Nani ErniDevy OctavianaYenny Hendriani PraptiwiIrwan Supriyanto

An alternative strategy to prevent several diseases that may appear in the oral cavity is to maintain healthy teeth and mouth. Unfortunately, there is still a lack of knowledge among Indonesian teenagers regarding the importance of maintaining healthy teeth and mouth. Therefore, education is needed to increase awareness of these issues, and one way is through educational media such as WhatsApp Blast. The aim of this research is to find out how well the WhatsApp Blast media works in increasing teenagers' awareness of dental and oral health problems. Thirty-five adolescents in one group participated in a pre-experimental pretest-posttest design research method. Purposive sampling is a sampling method. Adolescents' awareness of maintaining dental health and WhatsApp Blast Media are research variables. Experts in the field of media and materials have tested WhatsApp Blast media. There is a significant difference in awareness between levels before and after intervention, as shown by the results of the Wilcoxon test, which has a p value of 0.000 < 0.05. After the intervention, 82.9% of adolescents had a high level of awareness, compared to 91.4% of adolescents who had a moderate level of awareness before. Research findings show that WhatsApp Blast helps teenagers become more aware of their oral and dental health.
Ajeng Sri Intan MalikaDeru Marah LautSri MulyantiDenden Ridwan Chaerudin

https://jurnal.polkesban.ac.id/index.php/tgm/article/view/2120

The School Dental Health Program (UKGS) at SDN 212 Harapan in Bandung aims to maintain students' dental health through promotive, curative, and preventive activities but was halted in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study evaluates the program's implementation at SDN Harapan 212 using a descriptive, qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed through transcription, reduction, presentation, and verification. Findings reveal deficiencies in input, such as a lack of human resources (dentists and little dentist) and suboptimal facilities (non-functioning dental units). The organizational structure of UKS/UKGS is not displayed, and there is no parental financial support. In the process, the health center's UKGS program has been halted since 2019, and curative programs are not implemented. Policies like health center SOPs and cooperation MOUs are outdated. However, the program has increased students' understanding of dental care and their independence in maintaining dental hygiene. The study concludes that the UKGS program's implementation is inadequate in terms of input and process. It provides valuable insights for improving the UKGS program in other schools and contributes to the literature on school dental health programs.
Balqis Shafa' AhdiansyahNurul FatikhahYenni Hendriani PraptiwiUlfah Utami

https://jurnal.polkesban.ac.id/index.php/tgm/article/view/2176

Dental caries is one of the most common diseases in Indonesian society, both in adults and children. The common form of caries that mostly affects children under the age of five is referred to as rampant caries. Maternal ignorance about proper dental care in children is one of the factors in the onset of rampant caries in children. Maternal knowledge and efforts towards children's dental and oral hygiene have a significant influence on children's attitudes and behaviors that will complete children's dental health in the future. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of maternal knowledge and efforts to prevent caries rampant in pre-school children at Bimba AIUEO Subang. Analytic research with cross-sectional design method. In Bimba AIUEO Subang, 60 people, including 30 mothers and 30 children, participated in the sampling process. The results showed that mothers' knowledge about caries rampant was found to be in the good category, caries rampant cases most children did not experience caries rampant and mothers' efforts in preventing caries rampant were found to be in the good category. The research hypothesis was tested using the Fisher Exact test showing a p value = 0.007 (p <0.05). The relationship between maternal knowledge is proven to have an effect on efforts to prevent caries rampant in pre-school children. Increasing maternal knowledge and efforts to care for children's teeth plays an important role in preventing caries rampant by familiarizing children to always maintain dental health and dental hygiene.
Yayu HartiniDewi Sodja LaelaDevy OctavianaNurul Fatikhah

ABSTRACT

Elementary school children in grades IV-VI are one of the vulnerable groups in the occurrence of dental caries. One of the causes of dental caries in elementary school children is parents' ignorance about dental caries or its prevention. One of the efforts that need to be made to prevent dental caries is to use fluorine which has two ways of using it, including systemically and locally. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parental knowledge about fluoride and the incidence of dental caries in students in grades IV-VI at Pasir Haur State Elementary School, West Bandung Regency. The research method used was observational analytic with a sample of 113 people taken using total sampling. The analysis used was univariate and chi-square. The results showed that most parents' knowledge had a moderate knowledge category as many as 42 people (37.2%) and the incidence of dental caries in students in grades IV-VI as many as 83 people (73.5%). The test results showed (p-value=0.669> 0.05). This type of research is a pre-experiment with a one group pre-test and post-test design. Sampling using total sampling technique, as many as 52 students. The variables in this study were tooth brushing education using YouTube media and Hygiene Index values.
