Abstract
ABSTRACT
In the elderly stage, a decrease in the level of dental and oral hygiene as well as a decrease in teeth usually occurs, this will cause the elderly to lose their teeth. One way that can be done to reduce the impact of tooth loss is to use dentures. When entering old age, the level of appetite will decrease. To reduce morbidity in the elderly, it is necessary to pay more attention to their nutritional status. This study aims to determine the relationship between the use of dentures and the nutritional status of the elderly at RSGM UNPAD. The type of research used in this research is quantitative analytic. The data collection technique used a cross sectional study approach. The population in this study were elderly patients using dentures at the Prosthodontic Polyclinic, RSGM UNPAD, sampling by accidental sampling was 36 people. Data analysis was carried out univariately, bivariately with Kendall's Tau-b. The results of the bivariate analysis of variables had no relationship between the use of dentures and nutritional status (p = 0.175). It is expected that the elderly will continue to increase their nutritional intake in order to maintain good nutritional status.
